Ethos for Good
Ethos is committed to protecting families and building trust in the life insurance industry by providing accessible, affordable, and ethical life insurance. To further our commitment to our customers and the industry, we’ve launched Ethos for Good, a platform to partner with others who share our mission of helping our communities when they need it the most.
By launching Ethos for Good, we hope to inspire the industry to take more steps towards this obligation by better protecting people’s lives and their livelihoods. Little acts of kindness can make a big impact on our lives and communities, and so we encourage others to look at the impact they can make.

As Ethos continues to grow, our initiatives under Ethos for Good will expand and grow as well to include more outreach and employee volunteering efforts. The introduction of Ethos for Good is fundamental to the impact we aim to have on our customers, communities, and the industry.
It’s Ethos’ top priority that you remain healthy and informed as we cope through this challenging time together. Find the latest news and updates in addition to resources and organizations you can support to combat the pandemic. Learn more here.
For our first ‘Ethos for Good’ initiative, with the help of Roc Nation Sports, we partnered with five professional basketball players & local organizations to help make an impact in their hometowns. The players and their organizations of choice include:
- Tyus Battle | Patient Relief Fund
- Kevin Porter Jr. | Eluna Network
- Bennie Boatwright | Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA)
- PJ Washington | Camp Oasis
- Zylan Cheatham | South Mountain High School (Phoenix)
The youth who participate in Camp Mariposa face several challenges. For example, almost 90% of the youth have one or both parents struggling with a substance use disorder. In addition, 90% of the Camp Mariposa youth come from families with very low-incomes and qualify for free lunches. Many of the youth do not live with either biological parent, with over 42% in foster or kinship care. Three-quarters of Camp Mariposa youth report that they have experienced loss/grief and two-thirds report experiencing abuse.
Camp Mariposa is succeeding in its two overall program goals, delaying first use and reducing involvement in the juvenile justice system. Based on the most recent data, 94% of all Camp Mariposa youth have not used any substances to get high and 98% have not been in trouble with the police.
Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) gives underserved kids an equal chance to succeed through a comprehensive array of after-school academic, arts, athletics, and wellness programs. Serving more than 22,000 youth each year, 90% of HOLA's elementary school students perform at or above grade level, and more than 95% of HOLA's high school seniors graduate and go on to post-secondary education. Our success is founded on safe environments, nurtured by a no-wrong-door approach, amplified by world-renowned partners, and perpetuated by students who become productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
We hope you will consider giving to Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) as they need to purchase more chairs, bulletin boards, desks, bookcases, music stands, cello and bass racks, power tools, workbenches, and an electronic workstation for the new Scientific Arts maker's lab. This and so much more will be available in the new year to welcome students into the innovative facility.
The Patient Relief Fund helps meet the urgent needs of patients in financial crisis. Cancer devastates all patients and their families and can easily create financial hardships among the strongest and most economically secure families. There are the obvious expenses of treatment, including copays and deductibles, as well as many associated expenses, such as transportation and dependent care. Many patients and families experience a significant change in income due to disability, reduced hours or loss of employment. Support for this important fund helps provide a bridge for patients in need until they can access more permanent resources. The Social Work Department administers the Patient Relief.
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is the leading non-profit organization focused on both research and patient support for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The Foundation’s mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life for the estimated 3 million Americans living with IBD.
Camp Oasis enriches the lives of pediatric IBD patients by providing a safe and supportive summer camp community where they can grow and thrive. In addition to teaching campers important coping skills and how to manage their disease more independently, Camp Oasis is also an opportunity for them to escape the world of hospitals and treatments and just enjoy being a kid.
